Mail A Hug
Yesterday we mailed out a few hugs to our grandparents. This has been so hard and difficult on them and us to be so far apart for so long. I have included a few items you will need, and steps to completing your 'Hug of Hope' craft.
What you will need:
*don't forget the gluegun or your choice of glue

Now, let's put everything together. |
- Trace your child's hands on half of the construction paper. Then, cut them out and trace the cut out again on the other half of the construction paper.
- Take an end of your choice of yarn and warp it around you cut the yarn where the ends meet.
- While your gluegun is warming up, match your child's hands so when they over lap it is seamless. Once you have your child's hands matched up, place a drop of glue on the lower centre palm and attach one end of the yarn. Make sure you also use a few drops of glue on the same side and stick the two identical hands together. This is to hide the yarn in between the two traced hand prints.
- Do the same with the other hand with the other end of the string.
- Print off your copy of the poem HERE. Have your child draw a picture, write a message, or write their name of the half that has space. You can choose to cut and glue (I used a glue stick) the two halves together like I did to make it a bit thicker (just like a card).
- Once it is done it will look something like the photo below.
Now you are ready to add everything inside your envelope and mail it out to your grandparents, friends, family, and/or a working hero during this time. To remind everyone kindness and love is growing and beaming during this social distancing time.
I hope you try this out and send many hugs in the mail! Please don't forget to follow along our journey and tag us when you try any of our activities on social media.
Happy Learning!
